Our Mission

Picture
The mission of the Long Lake Association (LLA) , in Long Lake, NY, is to preserve and enhance the health and beauty of the lake and to promote its wise use for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations.

All  Long Lake residents, full-time and seasonal, are part of the LLA.  We encourage you to participate in events and to volunteer to help, whenever possible.  If you would like to join the Board of the Long Lake Association, please let us know.

What's New?
This year we partnered with the Lake Champlain Lake George Regional Planning Board to provide a Long Lake Homeowners Guide to a Healthy Lake.  This was provided through funding from the NYSDEC through the Environmental Protection Fund.  Information includes:
  • Message from the Long Lake Association
  • Shoreline Buffers & Landscaping
  • Aquatic Invasive Species
  • Harmful Algal Blooms
  • Help Stop the Spread of Aquatic Invasives
  • Water Conservation
  • Septic Maintenance
  • Stormwater Runoff
  • Zero Phosphorus Fertilizer
This Guide is available in the foyer at the Long Lake Town Offices, at the library, at the Post Office, and at the bank.  We will be reissuing it again in 2021.

2020 LLA Annual Report (see link for full report)
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 seasonal activities of the Long Lake Association (LLA) were curtailed, including the Annual Get-Together where we provide an update, or Annual Report.

Acknowledgements:
The LLA would like to thank all of you for your continued support of our efforts to meet our mission and the many volunteers and partners, including the LLA Board Members, Town of Long Lake, Paul Smith’s Adirondack Watershed Institute (AWI), NYSDEC, Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP), the Nature Conservancy, Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (HCSW), the Lake Champlain Lake George Regional Planning Board, NYSDOH, and so many others.

We also want to thank all the residents and visitors to Long Lake that took the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 Pandemic seriously. The Long Lake businesses and the Town of Long Lake worked very diligently to ensure that Long Lake remained opened and that we could engage in outdoor activities in a safe manner.

Message from the President - November 9, 2020

Not a lot has changed since my August message.  We are still in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic.  I will post the annual report from Paul Smith's College that summarizes the Lake Steward Program.  We hope to have a final draft of the Long Lake Management Plan in early 2021 to share with you.  We will also start planning for  2021 as spring approaches.  The Town of Long Lake did a terrific job working with the residents and visitors to make sure that they were safe while they enjoyed the lake.  The Town Beach COVID-19 Plan allowed residents and visitors to enjoy the many great beach days in Long Lake.  The Lake Stewards also remarked that there was a large influx of day use boaters, more than past years.

I will continue to post relevant updates from the County BOS, Hamilton County Public Health, the Town of Long Lake, the CDC, and the NYSDOH on the Long Lake Association Facebook page.
For the most up to date information on COVID-19 for New York State, please refer to these websites:

For Town of Long Lake and Raquette Lake updates, please check out the website which Alex is updating regularly.

Our local health department is the Hamilton County Public Health Department, which can be reached at 518-648-6497, or check out their Facebook page for the latest updates.

Thank you again for following the current restrictions related to COVID-19.  I look forward to seeing everyone as soon as the circumstances allow.  Meanwhile, the Long Lake Association will continue to move forward with the usual lake management activities and keep you posted about them.

Stay well and safe.
