The LLA original by-laws were approved in 1996 and were updated in 2023.
The LLA is a member of the New York State Federation of Lake Associations (NYSFOLA) and the Adirondack Lake Alliance

What Does the  Long Lake Association Board of Directors  Do?
The current Long Lake Association (LLA) is a community-based organization that was established in the early 1990s by a small group of concerned Long Lakers.  It is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization.

• Our mission is to preserve and enhance the health and beauty of the lake and to promote its wise use for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations. 
• Since Long Lake is an asset to all that live in the Town, all residents (full and part-time) are part of the LLA.  At this time, the LLA is not a membership organization and relies on a Board of Directors and volunteers to actively participate and support its mission.

The Board of Directors provides LLA leadership to achieve its mission.  All Board members participate in the Board meetings to address current programs, planning, and relevant issues that may arise. 

As a Board member, you may take on the role of an officer (President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer), or you may lead or actively participate on committees, or you may be a general volunteer to help drive our mission.

The LLA's areas of interest are: 

• Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention
  •  Lake Management Plan implementation, coordination with Adirondack Watershed Institure, Town of Long Lake, and NYS DEC
• Fundraising
  •  Coordination of fundraising efforts and events
• Loon Conservation
  • Participate in annual loon count, fishing line recycling
  • Working on the Loon Friendly Lake Certification
• Water Quality
  • Coordinates with the Adirondack Watershed Institute and Hamilton County Soil and Water to track Long Lake's water quality
• Communication
  • Manage announcements, website, Facebook, Mountain Times, bulletin boards throughout Town, brochures, informational booth at various events
  • Outreach to the community through various venues
  • Coordinate educational programs
• Activities
  • Coordinate and schedules activities sponsored by the LLA
• Headwaters Campaign
  • Represents the LLA. The Headwaters Campaign is a collaboration of the Adirondack Council and Northern Forest Canoe Trail along with three lake associations (Blue Mountain Lake, Long Lake, and Raquette Lake) in the headwaters of the Raquette River Watershed​
